To me this film had a wicked SIN CITY feel, monocromatic picture feel, visually sensuous, intensely erotic, violent, impressively directed, great acting, astonishing CGI, shot largley on green screen, not so accurate from a historical point of view, the important thing to remember here is that this movie is not based on Herodtus, but on Frank Millers graphic novel about the legendary battle of Thermopylae between the small but determined forces of the Spartans againist the overwhelming hordes of determined Persians, this is not a history lesson, but close. This film actually made brutality sexy, the story is slow at times almost dragging, Lots of dialog in this one, but its very well acted and the casting on this film is superb, with great looking costumes, and there is nothing like badass pumped up Spartan fighters in armour, wearing kool ass sandals weilding killing swords and battle axes,  this movie is a ferocious fictional retelling of the battle of Thermopylae in ancient Greece and the film looked very brutal and stylized, with incredible decapitation gore, very kool music, loud splendid battle footage, huge ripped guys inflicting MAJOR Damage, cut together like fine church glass, its a magnificent mosaic picture of splendid film making. I liked this film but loved Gladiator.
