I thought the movie was pretty good. It's no Bloodsport but it was close enough. Having seen a lot of Art Camacho's previous work it is to go without saying that they have been very lo-par. Maybe its due to working on low budgets, bad actors, and bad producing. However as a Director I think he should spend a little more time to paying attention to details I've seen other lo-budget directors do wonders with unknown actors and small budgets. I think Confessions of a Pit Fighter does mark a high point in his career as I think its a good showcase of his potential.
Most of the actors are not very well known but they did a pretty good job on playing out this film. I thought Giselle D'Cole was pretty hott and played her role well. Most notably is Armand Assante as the bad guy, and surprisingly Flava Flav did a good job. Hector Echavarria was not that impressive as the leading man, but his brother David held his own. The story line was interesting but still cliched' now for a fight film about a Pitfighter needs to have realistic fights and this one has ones that are barely so. For me fights either have to be "realistic" or they have to be stylized so that we either believe what we are seeing or that we slip into the film's world. Here the film has fights that look like rehearsals where no one breaks a sweat, gets dirty or bleeds real blood. The action would have been much better if it was done to speed but it seems slowed down but you could see that the film had pretty decent choreography. A lot of fighting movies that come out today aren't that great anymore because I think they tend to try a little too hard with special effects and flashy jump shots. As for this film it was a lower budget movie which was and the editing was abit choppy but overall the film was decent for a lo-budget fight film. Its not a great film but I do recommend it if your into fight movies.
