By 1972 the big-budget film companies had finally caught onto the draw of blood-splattered thrills thanks to the unstoppable exploits of the 'Godfather of Gore' Herschell Gordon Lewis.  The Gore Girls movie starts with private investigator Abraham Gentry (Frank Kress) who attempts to solve a series of savage go-go girl murders, helped by newspaper reporter Nancy Weston (Amy Farrell). we of course go into a series of killings, one girl has her face rubbed into a shattered mirror, another has her buttocks beaten and salt rubbed in. Further murderous methods include a burning iron to the face, a girl's head pushed into a pan of boiling oil and in the most twisted scene a girl's nipples are cut off producing both white and chocolate milk.
Sadly, by 1972 of course it was time for Lewis to leave the Gore making film scene (for reasons unknown to us) and so he did, bowing out gracefully but he also made damn sure his swan song film would never be easy to forget. At the end of the film Gentry looks at the audience and states "You've seen enough", he draws a curtain down over the film and ultimately over one of the most exciting and strangely successful film careers in cinematic history. Something like a sick ultra-violent cartoon, The Gore-Gore Girls (which occasionally played under the alternate title 'Blood Orgy') is one of Lewis' most accomplished and enjoyable films.
