       This is a movie I had'nt ever seen until recently, although I've heard a lot about it so last weekend I popped it into my faithful ol' DVD player and sat back and finally watched an old scool horror classic called........I Spit On Your Grave (retitled by the producers in an effort to bring in the horror crowd). Most likely because the film is very low-budget and very amateurish made in many ways including lighting, sound and casting. I was'nt appaulled by the story.....I personally like films where the heroine is ultra-badass and kicks much villan butt, however many people saw it as a despicable and leering Showcase of over the top Rape. I think this is an unjustly vilified movie, but that's not to say I'd call it a "brilliant, or even Great film" in any way. Save for the lead performance by Camille Keaton, (she actually did great for what she had to work with, script wise and character wise. But the rest of the acting is completely atrocious all-the-way across the board. And particularly annoying (atlest to me) is the ever-doddering backwoods 'retarded' character, though each of the actors portraying the rapists does manage to do what's required for the film, and you will literally hate each and every one........ a whole lot and therefore cheer when our heroine finally dishes out some gruesome vengeance. My problem with this is the vengence part gets a bit stupido as its played out thru the story.
     In all honesty this is truely a tough film to either watch or recommend but one that certainly deserves to be seen with objective eyes, I Spit On Your Grave may thrill you, repulse you, or even surprise you but ultimately you'll decide that for yourself. Considering how many people detested this movie, it's a testament to the film that it still even exists. The only thing I really liked about this film was the cover ART.........
